Imago Relationships International maintains a standing committee dedicated to clinical research and funds ongoing research projects concerning the efficacy of Imago Relationship Therapy. In 2008, IRI sponsored an unprecedented research project that utilized quantitative electrocephalography (QEEG) to measure the patterns of participating couples before, during, and after a couple’s workshop. The result of this study showed changes occuring in the areas of the brain associated with empathy. Another study measuring relationship satisfaction levels a year after the couple’s workshop is showing encouraging results. Further projects are being developed.
Research is critical to supporting the growth and proliferation of Imago Relationship Therapy. Like much of psychological theory and practice, Imago theory developed from observation and intuition. A succesful theory of practice must strive to meet the demand of practicioners seeking evidence-based methodologies. Thousands of therapists have discovered the effectiveness of Imago Relationship Therapy in their work with couples but until Imago Relationship Therapy is supported by published research, its longevity is threatened. Your donation will help ensure that Imago Relationship Therapy continues to thrive in every corner of the world.
The Fund
The IRI Scholarship Fund The Fund provides financial assitance to low-income couples to attend the Getting the Love You Want Couples Workshop. The Fund was initially set up in the fall of 2002 through a $15,000 anonymous gift.The donor’s intent was that this gift not be considered endowment from which only interest could be drawn down for grants. This gift was intended as principal, to be spent according to guidelines established by IRI, with the further intent that it serve as seed money for an ongoing program of grants which would be supported, sustained and enlarged by donations from others.
We are dependent on your generosity to support our programs which help to strengthen low-income families and provide a stable and emotionally supportive environment for children. Please support our program to provide these needed services.
