Faculty Focus

This month Imago World invites you to be a fly-on-the-wall at the Faculty retreat in New Mexico this past May.

The Imago Faculty includes the Clinical Instructors and Master Trainers who provide clinical training to therapists. They hold face-to-face meetings twice a year, in order to work together on improving the quality of clinical practice, and addressing the many issues around providing training and support for therapists worldwide.

The retreat was held at Harville and Helen’s ranch, El Sueno del Corazon, at a time when the Abiquiu hills were looking particularly spectacular after a wet spring. Attendees included Peter McMillan all the way from New Zealand and both Maureen Brine and Sophie Slade from Canada.

High in everyone’s mind was the opportunity to pay tribute to Bruce Crapuchettes, who has served the faculty as Dean over the last two years, and stepped down to enable an exciting restructuring of the team. It was a touching moment as the faculty sat around him, each sharing how much they had learned from his leadership and wisdom. Maureen Brine presented Bruce with a beautiful glass award, as recognition of his contributions to us all.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the first faculty Master Trainer day, during which Bruce Crapuchettes led the faculty through a discussion based on his clinical work, and the work he is doing with couple’s follow-up groups to the workshop.

Our thanks go to Harville and Helen for making their home available at such an affordable cost, and to Berna and her staff at El Sueno for helping to make the meeting such an amazing and productive experience of working together.
