"Scientific studies show that people in committed love relationships who are able to connect with each other in an open and vulnerable way and find meaning in their relationship live longer. An added bonus is that this kind of intimate relationship as an adult can offset many of the harmful effects of childhood adversity and parental deprivation. Research also shows that in order to experience life in its fullness, we must experience connection. That is what we yearn for and seek in intimate relationships. In Imago, we focus on increasing your awareness of what prevents the connection you long for and teach you a way to safely and meaningfully deepen it. In a very short time, misunderstanding and hurt is replaced with understanding and compassion. This is usually accompanied by relief and amazement. One of my greatest joys is hearing my clients say, “We have hope again."

Biography

Healing relationships has been the focus of my career since graduating from United Theological Seminary in 1979 with a specialization in Pastoral Counseling. Before beginning my work in 1985 with families and groups caught in the pain of addiction, I served on the staff of UTS and as an Associate Pastor and Retreat Facilitator. Then in 1994, I expanded and deepened my relational healing work to include Imago Relationship Therapy with couples and families. Additionally, from 2000-2007 I served on the faculty of the Relationship Coaching Institute where I focused on teaching relationship coaches from all over the world the art of coaching couples. I have been fortunate to train with some of the best and most creative innovators in the healing arts. As a result, my life and relationships have been enriched along the way.
