FACT Introductory Programs
Many trainees start by attending a 2-day introductory class (FACT A). These are designed for couples therapists who are interested, but would like to experience Imago clinical training first-hand before they commit to the full Certification Program. They cover the first 2-days of the certification program, and count towards completion of the full one-year program.
Flexible Access Clinical Training (FACT) is an opportunity to start training in Imago without the need to make a commitment to the complete 12-day certification program. Several FACT programs are scheduled each year, with US locations often featuring Dr. Harville Hendrix. The program includes an introduction to the Imago dialogue, and the Imago supervisory process, in addition to lectures on developmental journeys, the power struggle and conscious relationships. They provide practical skills to help you provide effective relationship help.
At the end of the two-days, if you wish to continue to train as a Certified Imago Therapist, there are two options. You may join a second two-day training, FACT-B, which will then prepare you to join a Certification group on the fifth day of their 12-day program, called Course 200SG. Alternatively, some Clinical Instructors will allow you to join Course 200SG on the third day, after completing just FACT A.
200SG: Imago Certification Program for Clinicians (Basic Clinical Training)
The Imago Certification program provides a strong foundation for providing effective Imago couples therapy. The heart of the course is to practice integrating Imago dialogue into the way you provide relationship help to clients, in addition to learning the theory which provides Imago’s foundation. As the program develops, the basic dialogue is extended to include training in converting frustrations into requests, exploring the impact of relationship history on relationship and marriage problems in the present, and using tools to help couples achieve their relationship vision.
The program is divided into sections:
Pre-requisite: Attend a Getting The Love You Want couples workshop. This may also be completed during the first part of the couples therapy training.
Level I is a 96 hour small-group intensive program, delivered over 12 days, usually divided into 3 sections of 4 days each.
Level II is a 6 month period of clinical consultation to enable you to prepare a video tape of a marriage counseling or relationship therpay session which meets the requirements for Certification.
Certification: Present a tape of your work as a couples therapist or marriage counselor, together with your own evaluation
More details of the training are provided in section 4 of our Course Catalog
