Imago Training for Professional Facilitators

Create a world of connection.

The Professional Facilitator program is to help professionals in a broad range of fields to become more effective at creating stronger and more productive relationships, through facilitating the Imago dialogue.

The program includes up to 16-days of small-group training, in addition to post-course project work.

Participants are taught to look underneath the surface of disagreements to reveal the underlying feelings and emotional needs.  By uncovering these needs, Imago facilitators can be more powerful at building connections between people in a wide variety of settings, including within the family and organizations.

Training in Imago Dialogue

The Imago Professional Facilitation Program enables

you to be an agent of change in your professional life

The origin of the Imago Facilitation Programs

In 1988, Harville Hendrix and Helen LaKelly Hunt published "Getting The Love You Want," a book that established Imago in the forefront of the field of relationship education. Since that time, "Getting The Love You Want" has sold over two million copies and helped hundreds of thousand of couples explore the path to developing a more committed partnership.

As Imago has continued to evolve as a both a theory and a method for developing relational skills, it becomes more and more evident that it has broader implications that can be applied in a vast range of community, organizational, and educational settings - wherever people seek more fulfilling ways to  live and work together.

The Imago Facilitation Program has been developed to meet the needs of different professional groups. They are designed to apply the perspective Imago offers on human relationships within different organizational and cultural contexts.

I am a teacher/head teacher. How can I use this in school?

You will be able to use the Imago Methods in the classroom and with groups. Both the Imago Dialogue and the Imago Methods can be used when you are talking with pupils, teachers and colleagues.

I am a social worker, is this for me?

Yes, for one, Imago Theory will teach you to look at family dynamics from a different perspective. During the Facilitator Training you will also get to know a range of methods that will allow you to achieve satisfying solutions even in difficult situations. (Please note: If you are a socialworker with an additional license in psychotherapy you should participate the clinical track.)

I have no formal education, can I take part in the training?

This course builds upon your professional education. To participate it is required that you have some form of professional vocation that allows you to implement the training.

As a mediator, how can I use the Facilitator Training?

Imago Theory will teach you a new understanding of conflict situations and how to look at them from a different perspective and you will learn a range of methods helping you with the implementation.

After the training, can I become a member of the IRI?

Yes and for the first year the membership is complementary. Thereafter you will be asked to pay a small annual fee which will allow you to continue benefitting from Imago International’s wide range of offers.

I am a coach, is this for me?

Yes, especially as a coach you will be able to use this range of methods in your work.

I have completed the Educator training prior to 2010. Does this automatically make me a certified Facilitator?

No, the Facilitator Training can’t be compared with the Educator track, as the contents are different and the Facilitator Training also teaches new theories.

I have attended the Community Educator training. Does this count toward the Facilitator Training?

No, these two trainings are very different. The Community Educator Training is not part of the Facilitator Training and therefore can’t be credited toward it.

We have attended the Couples Workshop. Would we benefit from the Facilitator Training?

Yes, we actually recommend it! We have a lot of couples that have completed this training. You benefit in two ways: not only can you use what you learn in your professional field, you also learn how to implement it in your own relationship helping you to develop and grow as a couple.

Why does the Facilitator Training take longer than the Clinical Training?

As a Facilitator you will learn to implement Imago in four different areas: working with individuals, dyads, families and organizations. Each area is very complex in its own right and therefore it takes time to learn, use and internalize the Imago Methods and Theories.
