Hello International Imago Community. We are the Melbourne Imago Interest Group. We had planned to send our representative to the Summit, but personal and professional issues prevented this. Instead, we made a video of our group, talking about issues that related to the Summit, and carefully mailed it in the hope that it would be seen by participants, however, sadly it seems to have gone astray.

Australia, like the U.S is a large size, and because of this and the history of Imago in Australia the Melbourne Imago Interest Group wants to have an East Coast Representative. Our group was formed initially by Sandie Beswarick, who was joined soon after by Diana Anderson, and has been meeting regularly for the last 7 years. The group consists of 9 therapists, 5 of whom are Imago Trained. We value the informality, intimacy, professional diversity and support of our group members.

On Australia’s East Coast, one hour plane flight north of Melbourne, there are 2 trained Imago therapists who work in Sydney. Farther north, is Hanuman who did the Educational stream of Imago, but plans to train as a therapist in the near future.

Sandie, has had a long association with Harville Hendrix, and facilitated his original trip to Melbourne. Later, she was instrumental in bringing Dorsey Cartwright to Melbourne, who ran Singles and Couples Weekends, as well as an Introduction workshop for professionals. Sandie and Diana arranged for Pat Love to come to Melbourne to run a Couples Weekend, followed by the Imago Training, for 10 therapists who came from various parts of Australia to participate.

Sandie and Diana kept the interest in Imago Relationship Therapy alive, by introducing therpists to the model, as well as writing and sending an Imago Newsletter on a regular basis to people who wanted to keep up with the Imago News and to be a part of the Community.
