Croatia is a tiny country, with a population of 4.5 million, which re-emerged after the disintegration of Yugoslavia. It is a country with a shape of a bird with its wings wide open. The beautiful azure Adriatic Sea washes its head and belly, while the northern plans are its wings. Eleven years ago, Croatia finally won its independence after 800 years of foreign dominance and 50 years of a socialist system. The transition from one economic system to another has been rough, as it is necessary not only to change the whole economy, but also the minds of the people.

Jette Simon agreed to do the first basic clinical training for six Croatian and three Slovenian therapists. Imago training was completed in 2002.

In the last five years there were a lot of changes for the Imago therapists in Croatia. Since our basic training with Jette Simon when five of us completed clinical track and one completed educational track (three psychiatrists, two psychologists and one engineer), all but one entered WP training. This training was also organized with Jette Simon. At the moment there are one qualified WP and four still in the process of getting diploma. Dr Ljiljana Bastaic translated the workshop manual and shared it with the rest of colleagues. Since couple of month ago Imago therapists of Croatia have their formal organization, Croatian Imago Therapists Association. Our next task is to open a website and bring more information about our work to the community. Majority of is already involved in promoting Imago in community by talking to newspapers, on TV and by talking at the professional meetings. Through "Getting the love you want" workshops, Imago became a spot of interest for young potential therapists who are interested in basic clinical training. At the moment we are all trying to prepare as many as possible young therapists to enter clinical track for our next training sessions.

For years we have both Harville’s books translated in our language, the first being sold out for the second time. The parenting book by Helen and Harville is translated too.
