Imago Resources in Denmark

Certified Imago Therapists, Workshop presenters, Clinical Training, Consultants

Denmark has a population of approximately five million and is devided in four main areas: Jylland, Fyn, Zealand and Bornholm and other small islands, but is currently considered one region. Except for Bornholm and other smaller islands, there are Certified Imago Therapists all over the country.

In 1997 the first Certified Imago Therapists were trained by Rick Brown and Maya Kollman. Maya Kollmann also trained the first Workshop Presenters, who finished their training in 2000. Jette Sinkjær Simon is now training new therapists. In 2008 there are about 120 Imago therapists and 12 therapists have finished their training as Workshop Presenters. The group of Imago Certified Therapists consists of a variety of professions, primarily psychologists, therapists, doctors, and social workers, some employed and some work in private practice.

The first 6 Imago Consultants finished their training in 2007.

The Danish Imago Organisation (Imagoforeningen i Danmark) was established in 2004 and now in 2008 the Imago Organisation has 55 members. Every year in spring Den danske Imagoforening has a general meeting with a general election of new members of the board, discussions about Imago and finances and news from the smaller groups in the association working with subjects as: Imago PR, Imago International, Imago and science, Imago News etc. During the year, Imagoforeningen i Danmark offers several meetings and workshops with serious content where experienced Psychologists and Therapists are invited to tell about subjects of interest to Imago Therapists.

Imagoforening has a website: www.imagoforeningen.dk

Imagoforeningen I Danmark is not yet a member of IRI - Imago International, but work towards that goal is in progress.

Some of the reasons why the board thinks it is important to be part of the International Organisation are:
• Retranslation and updating of the Manuals
• Working to unite all Imago Therapists in Denmark. “The more we are together – the stronger we will be”.
• More High Energy Fun and Creativity
• Spreading news from IRI to the members
• Fundraising possibilities
• Agency Partnerships Project for low income families
• Match Grant for projects
