Georgia

I am Kathy Malcolm Hall, and I represent Georgia, United States. Harville trained the first Georgia Imago therapists, Judy and Bruce Pemberton. Wendy and Bob Patterson and Louis and Linda McLeod were trained soon thereafter, and Imago spread throughout our region because of their influence as well as through the release of GTLYW.

At the first meeting, we decided to define our region as Georgia. We are open to being a sub-region of the Southeast but decided to start with ‘what is.’ We have had two successful regional meetings and have two more planned for the near future. At these meetings, we have education for which people can earn CEUs. We also take care of business matters at the meetings. There are about 50 trained therapists, eight workshop presenters, and one clinical instructor.

While there are numerous therapists in the region, there has been little cohesiveness. We plan to change that. To date, we don’t have any formal membership or structure except to call ourselves GRITs (Georgia Regional Imago Therapists). Cute, huh?

Wendy Patterson is the clinical instructor who organizes training, supervision, and other such mentoring. There is a good bit of marketing done for individual practices, varying from snail mail to websites. Our regional meeting invitations are done through e-mail.
