Mid-Atlantic Association of Imago Therapists

The Mid-Atlantic Association of Imago Therapists (MAIT) is a highly developed region. We have bylaws and a non-profit status. This year, we are completing a policies and procedures manual, which covers everything from the duties of the president to how to how to make coffee for meetings.

Early goals for the organization were to encourage referrals into workshops and to provide support and education to therapists who already had basic training. We developed a long-range plan in 2002. We expanded our goals to include the provision of programs to support and deepen therapists’ coupleship and mentoring skills as well as scholarships for therapists who need financial help to complete basic training and for couples who need to participate in workshops.

This past September, our annual meeting featured a half-day presentation by Ann Dobberton on Voice Dialogue. In December, we sponsored singles training and advanced supervision with Maya Kollman. David Flohr presented “Parenting Groups Using Imago” in February. Our April meeting was a facilitated discussion of the intake process. Hedy and Yumi will visit us this month for an advanced couples weekend workshop and an advanced training. We will also host a public talk by Hedy and Yumi.

Each July, we sponsor a play day for our members and their partners at one of our member’s pool. It’s a great time to connect and re-connect.

MAIT is a vital organization, and we look forward to being a part of the global Imago community and sharing what we have to offer and gaining from other regions’ experiences.
